Franklin Lakes Youths Steal Car, Enter Ramapo High With Toy Rifle

Four students ages 11 to 17 allegedly stole a car and broke into two high schools in Bergen County, including Ramapo High School, while carrying a realistic-looking toy rifle, according to local reports.

The incident prompted Franklin Lakes police to request mutual aid from Wyckoff and several other departments. Officers responded to Ramapo High School, which serves students from Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff, and a second nearby high school where the youths were also reported inside the buildings.

Arrests and Release

All four students were taken into custody. They were later released to their guardians.

School and Community Impact

No injuries were reported. The toy rifle was determined to be non-functional. Ramapo High School serves the communities of Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff.
