Eastern Bergen County remains under a National Weather Service Coastal Flood Warning until 6 p.m. EDT Sunday, according to a Coastal Hazard Message issued by NWS New York at 5:14 a.m. Saturday.

The warning covers Hudson, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, and Eastern Union counties in New Jersey, plus Manhattan. Forecasters said one to two feet of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, with widespread flooding of low-lying roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and basements near the waterfront. Some road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas could flood, the service said.

A separate Wind Advisory remains in effect for Western Bergen and Eastern Bergen until 6 a.m. EDT Sunday. NWS said north winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph could blow around unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs, and cause a few power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles were advised to use extra caution.

At Teterboro Airport as of about 8:51 a.m. Saturday, NWS reported rain and fog or mist, with a north wind of 15 mph gusting to 30 mph, according to the point forecast page for the area.

Statewide, Governor Mikie Sherrill declared a State of Emergency effective 5 p.m. Friday for eight counties expected to see the hardest coastal impacts: Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Salem, under Executive Order No. 25. Bergen County is not on that list. The governor urged residents to charge phones, secure loose outdoor items, stock food and water, avoid travel when possible, and never drive through flooded roads, and pointed the public to ready.nj.gov for updates.

NWS advised anyone who must travel not to drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth, and to protect flood-prone property. Residents should monitor local alerts and the latest products at weather.gov/nyc.
