Bergen County OKs $111K Contract to Upgrade Traffic Lights in Fort Lee, Hackensack

Bergen County commissioners have approved a $111,907 engineering contract to restore and modernize traffic light timing systems at 33 intersections in Fort Lee and Hackensack.

The contract with HNTB Corp. was approved on Sept. 16. Under the agreement, the firm will assess the existing system, identify needed repairs and upgrades, and develop a plan to return the network to full operation.

Project Purpose

The effort aims to improve traffic flow in the two municipalities by updating the coordinated timing controls that manage signals across the selected intersections.
