One spectator suffered a leg injury when a railing collapsed after a high school football game between Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco in Oradell on Saturday, police said.
The incident occurred at the conclusion of the contest at Jack McGovern Field at Bergen Catholic, which drew approximately 4,000 spectators. Oradell Police Chief David Gangemi said students and players had gathered near the student section to celebrate when a fence and railing gave way, causing several people to fall onto the track. The injured spectator received treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Game Details
The game marked the 84th meeting between the Bergen County rivals. Bergen Catholic, which trailed 24-0 at one point, rallied to win 34-30, according to The Record. Oradell police provided security for the event.
Gangemi credited Bergen Catholic staff and responding personnel for their cooperation during the incident.
