Two Bronx Men Charged in Saddle Brook Lanza Ave. Armed Robbery — Held in NY Pending Extradition

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced Monday that two Bronx men — Ronny Moquete Rosario, 27, and Jacob Rodriguez, 26 — have been charged in a June 22 armed robbery outside a business on Lanza Avenue, after a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Saddle Brook Police Department. Both men were arrested in the Bronx on Sept. 23 and remain in New York custody pending extradition to Bergen County.

The case sits in a three-month gap between a brazen morning stickup and the charging/arrest week that followed — and, for now, still short of Bergen County jail.

What BCPO and Saddle Brook PD put on the record

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office press release dated Sept. 28, 2026, Saddle Brook police responded about 6:51 a.m. Monday, June 22, to an armed robbery of a business on Lanza Avenue. The victim had parked near the establishment. As he exited his car, a male suspect in a black hood and facemask, armed with a handgun, emerged from a white four-door vehicle with dark tinted windows parked nearby, confronted the victim, and stole money, valuables, and personal items. The suspect returned to the vehicle and fled north on Midland Avenue.

BCPO’s Special Investigations Squad responded and opened a joint investigation with Saddle Brook PD under Chief John Zotollo. Detectives identified the suspect vehicle as a 2018 Acura TLX displaying a bogus temporary New Jersey registration tag, then linked that vehicle to Rodriguez. Investigators separately identified Rosario as an additional suspect responsible for committing the armed robbery, the release says.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Rosario and Rodriguez were each charged with first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b; second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a; and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4).

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, with assistance from the FBI New York Field Office Violent Threat Initiative and the NYPD, BCPO and Saddle Brook detectives located both men in the Bronx. They were apprehended without incident, placed in NYPD custody, and held by New York authorities pending extradition back to Bergen County, Musella’s office said.

Prosecutor Musella thanked Saddle Brook PD and also credited the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office; FBI New York VTI; Hasbrouck Heights, Paramus, Port Authority, and Tenafly police departments; and the NYPD.

Charges are accusations. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

A check of Saddle Brook PD’s municipal press-releases page for a standalone department statement on this case found no matching public release at draft time; the primary written charging narrative is the BCPO Sept. 28 release, which names SBPD as the responding and partner agency under Chief Zotollo.

What fits — and what still doesn’t

Who benefits from the public frame? County prosecutors and partner agencies get a multi-agency arrest story after months of work, with federal and New York assistance on the takedown. Readers get names, charges, and a clear Midland Avenue escape path. The open question is timing: roughly three months from June 22 to Sept. 22–23 charging and arrest — long enough that the public had no named suspects from BCPO until this week.

What doesn’t fully fit a “carjack” label: BCPO describes a gunpoint robbery of a person exiting a parked car outside a business — money, valuables, and personal items taken — then flight in the suspects’ white Acura, not a clear seizure of the victim’s vehicle. Secondary headlines sometimes lean “carjack-style”; the primary release does not say the victim’s car was taken.

Roles: Detectives linked the Acura (bogus temp tag) to Rodriguez and identified Rosario as an additional suspect who committed the robbery. The release does not spell out who sat where in the car, who held the gun on video, or how identification was made (plates, surveillance, tips, DNA, etc.).

Extradition status: As of the Sept. 28 BCPO release, both men were still in New York custody pending extradition — not yet lodged in the Bergen County Jail. No public BCPO update confirming arrival in New Jersey was located at draft time.

Business unnamed: BCPO and SBPD (via BCPO) do not name the Lanza Avenue business. Bergen TV is not inventing one.
